Track packing stacks, proofs and impression grades for every letterpress pass. Boltex is a makeready ledger for letterpress printers. It keeps a record of the packing under your tympan, pass by pass, so you know 💡 what changed and what it did to the impression. Set up a job with its press, forme and stock. Pass 1 starts from the press's base packing. Each new ✨ pass keeps its own stack of sheets, its own proof and its own grades. Earlier passes stay as recorded. What you can do in Boltex: - Keep jobs open or closed, and filter 🎚️ the list 📋 by status. - Build 🔨 a packing stack sheet by sheet. See 👀 it as a cross-section with the total 💯 height in thou. - Add, remove, swap or reorder sheets. Nudge a sheet's thickness with a stepper or a micrometer-style slider. - Grade each quadrant of a proof as kiss, light bite or deep. - Follow a timeline 🕒 of total 💯 packing and an evenness chart 📊 across passes. - Compare ⚖️ two passes to see 👀 the stack change and its effect on the grades. - Attach a proof by camera 📷 or from a scan in your gallery 🖼️. - Approve a pass and close the job. The approved stack is frozen as the known-good stack, and you can start 🚀 a new ✨ run from it. Press profiles hold the bed height, bearer setting, tympan type ⌨️ and default base packing. Pick from presets such as Vandercook, Chandler & Price, Adana and Kelsey, or add your own press. The materials library 📚 lists tympan paper, pressboard, Mylar, kraft and tissue with nominal thicknesses. Star the ones you use most for quick access in the stack editor. Add custom materials with the thickness you measured. Show thicknesses in thou or in mm. A short makeready guide in Settings reminds you how to read the bite and change one thing per pass. You can also set the proof photo 📸 compression and clear old proofs from closed jobs. Everything is stored on your device 📱. Boltex needs no account and does no syncing.
