Don’t just learn what a sentence means. Learn when it comes naturally. Dhana writes you a card for the thing you actually want to talk about. Type the name of a place, a situation, an activity or a work: at the doctor's, at the optician's, at the warehouse, cooking, playing chess, The Godfather or any other book or movie, and Dhana writes a card for it in the language you are learning, explained in your own language. A situation gives you what you will say and what you will hear, in the register people really use there. A film, a series or a book gives you the words it is made of. An activity gives you the vocabulary of doing it. Each card becomes flashcards. You review them with spaced repetition, two buttons: I knew it, I didn't. Words you already know are set aside for good; words you don't want are folded away and come back with one tap. Gather cards into collections: "love", "at work", "my trip", and train on a collection before the moment that matters. Cards that share words are linked, and you can wander from one to the next. Your language and the language you learn are chosen among sixteen, on both sides. Your shelf, your progress and your own sentences live on your phone. Dhana asks you to sign in with Google: that is what lets it write cards for you, and back up your shelf if you ask.

Dhana 1.1 — study what you read elsewhere. • Paste an article, a page from a book or song lyrics: Dhana turns it into a card, each paragraph with its translation at a tap, and the words from the text to review. • Tap the search bar, then “or import a text”. • Ask a question about a paragraph or a word, and correct your card yourself.
