El Correo de Zamora, fundado en 1897, es una de las cabeceras centenarias en España. En 1990 Prensa Ibérica, fruto de su proceso de expansión, funda La Opinión de Zamora con el fin de dar un nuevo aire a la información de la ciudad y la provincia. En 1993 se produjo la fusión de ambos periódicos dando origen a La Opinión-El Correo de Zamora. Es líder en difusión y audiencia en Zamora, el diario cuenta con dos ediciones, una general para el conjunto de la provincia y una específica para Benavente, el segundo núcleo de población tras la capital zamorana, y la comarca de Los Valles. Con más de una década de presencia activa en la vida social de la ciudad, el Club La Opinión-El Correo ofrece con regularidad conferencias y debates sobre temas de candente actualidad. El Club se ha convertido en una referencia cultural indispensable de Zamora.
