Bus Watch measures the walk to your stop against when your bus is due, and tells you one of four things: you'll make it, it's cutting it fine, catch the later one and which one that is, or it is too far. Too late for that one and it names the bus you can catch instead, rather than leaving you to work it out on the pavement. Be careful when running though. Seriously. Set a reminder and get a nudge when it is time to leave. It counts back from the bus, takes off your walking time and leaves a minute of slack, because arriving as the doors close is not making it. BECAUSE IT'S LONDON, BABY Bus Watch watches the numbers move between refreshes, which is the part the times on their own never tell you. • Two buses of the same number turning up together? That is bunching, and it warns you about the long gap that usually follows. • A countdown that has quietly lost three minutes or more since you first looked? That is slipping, and it says so. • Ghosting much? When a bus vanishes off the arrivals board, it notices that too. FAST AND SIMPLE Bus Watch does one thing. Bus Watch tells you why it wants your location before your phone asks for it. Those coordinates go to the app's own server to look up the stops near you, and are not kept against you. No Tube, no rail, no journey planning, no other cities. • The walk is measured in a straight line, so it is optimistic anywhere a river or a railway sits between you and the stop. London Bridge is exactly such a place. • Arrival times are TfL's predictions rather than promises. The bunching and slipping warnings exist precisely because those predictions move.
