Full description
PyBLE is a free, open-source, tablet-first MicroPython IDE for iPad and Android. It lets you write, transfer, and run Python programs on compatible microcontroller boards over Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), so the normal development workflow does not require a permanent USB cable, Wi-Fi connection, account, or cloud service. With PyBLE, you can: • Write and edit MicroPython code • Save and run programs on a connected board • Stop programs and perform a soft reboot • Browse, upload, download, rename, and delete board files • View live console output and send console input • Create programs with offline Blocks • Inspect the generated Python code before running it • Connect directly to nearby compatible boards over BLE A compatible board must run MicroPython with the open PBLE/1 PyBLE agent. Stock MicroPython with generic Bluetooth hardware is not automatically compatible. The board normally requires one initial firmware installation over USB using a supported desktop browser. After provisioning, everyday editing, file transfer, execution, and console communication take place over BLE. PyBLE is designed to work locally. It has no advertising, analytics, telemetry, user accounts, subscriptions, or cloud dependency. Source code and files are transferred directly between your tablet and the board you select. Check https://pyble.dev/flash for the currently validated firmware profiles and their exact hardware requirements. The complete PyBLE application, PBLE/1 protocol, firmware agent, tests, and documentation are publicly available under the MIT License: https://github.com/PyBLE-dev/PyBLE PyBLE is an independent SciLabPro open-source project maintained by Viwat Vchirawongkwin. It is not an official Chulalongkorn University project or application.

What's new

Open testing for PyBLE 0.2.0. - Edit MicroPython with syntax highlighting, line numbers and adjustable text size. - Review public GitHub examples at a pinned commit before importing. - Select and delete multiple visible board files with exact confirmation. - View board identity, firmware and an offline privacy policy. - Use offline Blocks with numeric GPIOs or named pins. A compatible board running the PyBLE agent is required. Initial firmware setup needs a computer.
