Full description
ForestEditor is the field companion to EcoForce ForestManager. It is built for forestry businesses that manage their stands in QGIS and need to record, check and update them out in the woods — with or without a signal. Please note: ForestEditor is a staff application. It requires an existing ForestManager account with your organisation. You cannot register inside the app. YOUR QGIS PROJECTS, ON THE PHONE Download your organisation's QGIS project straight from the EcoForce server: project file, GeoPackages and offline tiles. The app shows what is on the device and how many edits are still waiting to be sent. THE MAP AS YOU BUILT IT The layer tree comes from the project itself — groups, initial visibility, single, categorised and graduated symbology, layer opacity and labels. Tap a feature to read its attributes, with the field aliases and value lists you configured in QGIS. CAPTURE AND EDIT Create points, lines and polygons by tapping, from the GPS position, or by recording a track as you walk a boundary. Snapping to existing vertices, a live area and length readout, and full reshaping: move a vertex, insert one on a midpoint, delete it again. Attribute forms are generated from your QGIS field configuration — value maps, ranges, date fields, not-null constraints and default expressions such as round($area/10000,2) or now(). Every change is written directly into the GeoPackage, so QGIS Server keeps reading the files unchanged. SYNC THAT MERGES INSTEAD OF OVERWRITING If a colleague uploaded in the meantime, their version is not discarded: your changes are replayed onto the current server state, field by field. Only real conflicts — the same field edited on both sides, or deleted here and edited there — are reported, and you decide once per file. A backup is kept before any local file is replaced. OFFLINE IN THE STAND Areas you browse are kept in the tile cache, offline areas can be saved ahead of a trip, and MBTiles from the project work with no connection at all. Keep working in a dead spot; everything transfers once you are back in range. SIGNING IN Use your username and the DAV token from your account settings in the web interface — or follow the link in your credentials e-mail for a one-step sign in. The app talks only to your organisation's EcoForce ForestManager server. Location access is used solely to place features and record tracks, and only while you are using the app. Nothing is shared with third parties. EcoForce GmbH · eco-force.de
