A candy-coloured worm arena where the smallest worm can still beat the biggest one. Eat sweets to grow. Cut in front of a rival so they crash into your body. Stay out of everybody else's way while you do it. Wormix.io takes a minute to pick up and a long time to get good at — there are twenty-six worms in the arena and only one of them is you. HOW IT PLAYS Steer with your finger, or switch to a floating joystick in the menu. Hold BOOST to sprint. Your head is the only part of you that can be killed. Bodies are lethal to everyone except their owner, and that is the whole game: drive into somebody and you pop, cut across them and they do. Meet another worm face to face and it comes down to angles. Whoever is struck closest to the centre of their own face is the one that bursts — so ramming somebody head-on loses, unless they happen to be looking straight back at you. Boosting burns your own mass and drops it behind you in a trail, so every sprint is a real trade rather than a free button. THE ARENA IS NOT A PUSHOVER The other worms are opponents, not scenery. Each one simulates its own body down eleven possible headings before committing to a turn, works out who would lose a face-off before starting it, hunts anything smaller than itself by aiming where you are going instead of where you are, and saves its boost for a kill. Drive carelessly and you will last seconds. Pay attention and you will get a proper run. EAT, GROW, SPEND - Twelve kinds of sweet, from jellybeans to lollipops and doughnuts - Seven power-ups: raw speed, sharper turning, a magnet that hoovers up an entire patch, a wider view, and score multipliers up to 10x - Diamonds are genuinely rare — roughly one an hour of playing — and carry a beacon and a map marker, because crossing an arena this size takes a while - Anything you pop scatters everything it ever ate, so kills are worth chasing DRESS THE WORM Coins are earned by playing and buy skins, helmets, glasses and wigs. Sixty-eight country flags repeat along the length of your worm, so the longer you grow the more of them you fly. The rarest skins are bought with diamonds. PERKS — ONE RUN AT A TIME Kit you choose before a run rather than find during one. Head Start begins you at 150 score. Sugar Reserve makes your first four seconds of boosting free. The Invincible Helmet survives one crash and shatters. Second Wind lets you die once and carry on at half your length. Every perk is a comeback rather than a crown. None of them make a big worm harder to kill, and an armed perk glows where your opponents can see it. PLAY WITH PEOPLE YOU KNOW Multiplayer drops you into a shared arena with everybody else who is online. Invite a friend and you get a private one that strangers cannot wander into. WORKS WITHOUT A SIGNAL Solo play runs with no connection at all — on a train, on a plane, or on terrible hotel wifi. Multiplayer, naturally, needs one.
