Full description
Navia is a navigation app designed from the ground up for blind and low-vision users — not a sighted person's map with accessibility bolted on afterward. Turn on TalkBack (Android's screen reader), download the map for your area once, and explore entirely by touch and sound — no internet connection needed after that. Move your finger across the screen and Navia speaks the name, category, and distance of every street, shop, and point of interest under your finger, using clock-face directions ("3 o'clock", "9 o'clock") the same way orientation-and-mobility (O&M) training already teaches. WHY NAVIA - Built for TalkBack from the first screen to the last, not adapted afterward - Works fully offline — download your area once, no signal needed while you're out walking - Announces direction as a clock position ("2 o'clock, 40 meters") — a familiar O&M convention, not compass jargon - "Aim" at any point and get live distance-and-direction updates as you walk toward it - Dictate instead of type: search, add points, and rename places by voice - Add your own points — a friend's door, a favorite bench, a bus stop the map missed - Filter the map by category or keyword so only what matters to you is announced - Save favorites for the places you return to often - Available in 47 languages, with both the interface and voice input following your choice - No ads, no account required, no location tracking or selling of your data HOW IT WORKS 1. Open Navia and download the map for your current area (one-time; it works fully offline afterward) 2. Turn on TalkBack if it isn't already running 3. Slide a finger over the screen — Navia speaks streets, addresses, and nearby places as you touch them 4. Tap "Aim at Point" on any place for continuous distance-and-direction guidance as you walk 5. Use the nearby-places list, search, or voice dictation to find where you want to go WHO IT'S FOR Navia is built primarily for people who are blind or have low vision and navigate with a screen reader, as well as orientation-and-mobility instructors and anyone who prefers exploring a map by sound rather than sight. A simplified on-screen visual map is also available (currently in Beta) for low-vision users who want a visual reference alongside the audio. PRIVACY Navia doesn't require sign-in, doesn't show ads, and doesn't track you. Map data stays on your device. See our Privacy Policy for details on the small amount of anonymous crash-diagnostic data used only to fix bugs. Have feedback or found a problem? We'd like to hear from you — see the support link on this listing.
