When it is on you get Sleep, and the actions that need the machine running are greyed out until it is. Status refreshes by itself, so what you see is what is actually happening. If a wake cannot work, WakeLink tells you why in plain words — not on Wi-Fi, a VPN in the way, no local network — instead of failing silently. Waking over Wi-Fi is unreliable on almost all hardware. • Wake on LAN must be enabled in the PC's BIOS and network adapter settings. The guide shows you how. • Laptops need to stay on mains power. On battery, most laptops cut power to the network card and cannot be woken. • The phone running WakeLink must be on the same Wi-Fi network as the PC.
