NAMASTE Scheme The NAMASTE Scheme app is a platform for the enumeration, profiling, verification, and validation of sanitation workers and waste pickers across India. NAMASTE (National Action for Mechanized Sanitation Ecosystem) is a Central Sector Scheme jointly implemented by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (MoSJE) and the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA). The scheme aims to promote the safety, dignity, and well-being of sanitation workers and waste pickers while supporting access to social security, welfare benefits, and livelihood opportunities. The app enables authorized government bodies, Urban and Rural Local Bodies, and other stakeholders to digitally collect and manage worker information. For sanitation workers, the platform supports profiling and validation of workers engaged in activities including sewer and septic tank cleaning, drain cleaning, pit emptying, and the operation and maintenance (O&M) of Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) and Faecal Sludge Treatment Plants (FSTPs). The platform supports safer working practices and facilitates access to eligible welfare, social security, training, and livelihood support. For waste pickers, the platform supports enumeration and validation of workers engaged in waste collection, sorting, recovery, and recycling in urban and rural areas. The collected information helps facilitate recognition and access to relevant social security, welfare, safety, training, and livelihood support under the NAMASTE Scheme and other government initiatives. By bringing these functions together, the NAMASTE Scheme app provides a unified digital ecosystem for worker enumeration, profiling, verification, data management, and linkage with government welfare and social security initiatives.
