Navratri Suraksha – VRP

Navratri Suraksha is a women's-safety app from Vadodara Rural Police for the Navratri garba festival. It helps the police know that women and girls who attend garba reach home safely, and lets you alert the police control room quickly if you need help. HOW IT WORKS • Register once with your mobile number. You confirm the number with a 6-digit code sent by SMS, and add an emergency contact – a parent or family member the police can call. • Save your home on the map (optional). It is used only to recognise when you have reached home. • At the garba venue gate, scan the police QR code to mark your entry. • While you are inside the garba ground, the app only checks every few minutes that you are still there – nothing is shared. From the moment you leave the ground until you reach home, it shares your live location with Vadodara Rural Police – about once a minute while you are on the move – so officers can help you quickly. During this time a notification stays on your phone showing your trip status and distance home, with SOS one tap away. • When your phone comes within about 1 km of your saved home, the app tells the police control room that you have arrived. You can also tap "I have reached home" yourself when you are at home. Location sharing then stops automatically. • If you allow notifications, the police control room can send you messages – for example that your SOS has been seen and help is on the way, or a safety notice for your venue. SOS Press and hold the SOS button for 2 seconds. The police control room is alerted with your location, and your emergency contact gets an SMS. The app then lets you call 112 or your emergency contact with one tap. SOS from the notification starts a short countdown, so you can cancel a mistaken press. YOUR PRIVACY • Your live location is shared only from the time you leave the garba ground until you reach home, and when you press SOS – never at any other time. Sharing also stops if you sign out, and by the next morning. • Only authorised Vadodara Rural Police staff can see your details. • No ads. Your data is not sold or given to advertisers. • Your data is deleted after Navratri. • You can turn location off at any time and tap "I have reached home" when you get home instead. • Changed phones? Tap "Already registered? Log in" and your saved details come back. WHO CAN USE IT Anyone aged 13 or above attending a garba venue that displays the Navratri Suraksha police QR code at its gate. Registration needs an Indian mobile number that can receive SMS. Girls under 18 should use the app with the knowledge of a parent or guardian, and add that parent's number as the emergency contact. Available in English and Gujarati. This app does not replace emergency services. In an emergency, always call 112.
