VowelOwl: Magical Storybooks

Fifty illustrated storybooks, read aloud in eleven languages, with no adverts and nothing to buy inside the story. VowelOwl is a bedtime-story and early-reading app for children aged 3 to 10, built by a small team who wanted something better for our own kids. Every page is hand-illustrated. A whole cast of narrator voices reads the stories, each with its own personality — and every story lets you choose who reads it. And every book exists in all eleven languages — not machine-translated, but written natively, so each one reads like the original. FIVE WORLDS, FIFTY STORIES Brave little dragons learning to be brave. A magical forest that rearranges itself overnight. Deep-sea friends in a coral town. Pirates whose plans never survive contact with a parrot. And journeys out past the last planet. Ten stories in each, sized for the age they are written for — short and rhythmic for threes, longer and funnier by ten. ELEVEN LANGUAGES, SWITCHED MID-STORY English, Afrikaans, Dutch, German, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Arabic, Hindi, Mandarin and Indonesian. Tap the flag while reading and the language changes on the spot — same page, same picture, new words, and the narration picks up in the new voice. It is the feature families use most: read a page in the language your child is learning, then flip to the one they think in to check they understood it. Arabic reading right-to-left is handled properly, including which way the pages turn. READ TO, OR READING ALONE Choose a narrator and the words light up in time with the voice, which is how early readers learn to follow a line of text. Or choose self-reading, and there is no audio at all — just a child, a page, and no one hurrying them. Text scales up for young eyes, and Big Picture mode hands the whole screen to the illustration. NEEDS A CONNECTION The illustrations and the narration stream, so VowelOwl needs a connection while you read. Normal home wifi or mobile data is plenty, and there is no large download to wait through. Offline reading is something we would like to add — and we would rather say that plainly than promise a flight that does not work yet. BUILT FOR PARENTS TOO Reading progress and earned stickers for each child, and a profile per child that follows your account across devices. The parent area sits behind a simple sum, and so does every purchase and every link out of the app. Found a clumsy sentence in a translation? There is a report button on the story page itself. NO ADVERTS. NO THIRD-PARTY AD TRACKING. None, on any plan. VowelOwl is built to the COPPA, GDPR-K and POPIA children's privacy standards, and is built to comply with Google Play's Families policies.
