How to Use the App: 1. Start Scouting: Tap the "Scout" button in the center of the navigation bar. The app will use your GPS (if enabled) to find a species currently being observed near you. 2. Explore Details: Swipe through the image gallery for high-res views. Scroll down to read the Wikipedia summary or expand the "Taxonomy" section to see the species' ancestors. 3. Listen: If a species has vocalizations, tap the Play buttons. A progress ring will track the recording as it plays. 4. Save Your Findings: Tap the "Journal" icon to save a species to your favorites for offline viewing. Mastering the Home Screen Widget: The Verdant Vista widget is designed to be a "living card" on your phone. 1. Add the Widget: Long-press any empty space on your Android home screen, select "Widgets," and drag the Verdant Vista card to your preferred spot. 2. Automatic Updates: The widget will periodically "scout" for you in the background, updating with a new species, photo, and name based on your discovery settings. 3. Manual Shuffle: Don't want to wait? Tap the Shuffle icon directly on the widget to instantly scout for a new species without opening the app. 4. Instant Access: Tap the species name or photo on the widget to jump directly into the app for full details, sounds, and summaries. Connectivity Note: Verdant Vista is optimized for 5G and high-speed mobile data. It includes a "Low Data Mode" to save bandwidth by using medium-resolution images when you're exploring deep in the field.
