Full description
Hex has one rule worth remembering, and it fits on a biscuit wrapper: connect your two sides of the board before your opponent connects theirs. Velnix Hex sets that rule on a board of flat hexagons with thick black keylines and not a gradient in sight. Red owns two opposite edges, Blue owns the other two, and every stone you put down is either building your own chain or quietly cutting off someone else's. There are no draws. The board simply won't allow one, which is more than can be said for most board games. What's on the table — Play the computer at three levels. Easy is polite. Normal reads the board by shortest path and punishes careless gaps. Hard runs a Monte Carlo search, then thinks it over for a moment before it moves. — Pass & Play for two people sharing one phone, taking turns in the same seat. — Three board sizes: 7 × 7 to start, 9 × 9 after three wins on the small board, 11 × 11 after three wins on 9 × 9. — An optional swap rule: after Red's opening stone, Blue may take it over rather than place a new one. It keeps first-move advantage honest. — Twenty-two puzzles on a ladder, starting at "win in 2" and getting longer as you climb, on 7 × 7 and 9 × 9 boards. Play a move that doesn't force the win and the computer answers with the refutation, then sets the position back up for another go. Your best attempt on each is kept. How it looks and behaves Stones carry a mark as well as a colour: a dot for Red, a square for Blue, so the board reads clearly without relying on colour alone. Press a cell and a ghost stone shows where you're about to play; let go and it drops into place. The winning chain lights up one cell at a time, each with a slightly higher note, and your first win gets a burst of small geometric confetti. Settings cover sound, haptics and a Reduce motion switch, which stops the drifting background shapes, screen shake and confetti. It's a strategy game, so it doesn't need to wave at you while you think. First match Tap PLAY AI and you're straight into a 7 × 7 game as Red, with a pointer showing where to start. That's about as much instruction as Hex needs. Velnix Hex has no internet permission. Signal in a lift or at the bottom of a coal mine makes no difference to it.

What's new
