VELA

VELA is a low-power e-paper desk display that works with this free app. It shows one useful thing at a time, updates itself, and never asks you to unlock your phone. [ANYWHERE] • Clock — digital, analogue, or a four-city world clock • Weather — forecast for anywhere in the world, with Hong Kong Observatory warnings at home • Emergency phone — one important number, full screen • Calendar — a tear-off daily leaf with the lunar date, today's events from your phone's calendar, and the day's 宜/忌 from the Chinese almanac if you want it. Events reach VELA over Bluetooth only, never through a server [REMINDERS — NO NETWORK NEEDED] • Medication and injections — a weekly schedule; VELA sounds an alarm, shows what is due, and you press a button on the device to tick it off • Drink water — a nudge at the interval you choose, and a running count against your own target Four alarm sounds to choose from.
