Van Minh So: Vietnamese Rites

Van Minh So helps Vietnamese families keep their traditions: remember death anniversaries, build a family tree, look up ceremonial prayers and read the lunar calendar — all in one app. DEATH ANNIVERSARY REMINDERS Record the day each relative passed away. The app converts between the lunar and solar calendars and reminds you several days ahead, so there is time to prepare the offerings. Every anniversary (giỗ) has its own screen: the ritual, a checklist of what to prepare, and the matching prayer opened straight from there. FAMILY TREE Map the generations of your family, with a photo and dates for each person. Choose how someone is related to you and the app works out the parents, spouse, siblings and children on its own. Everything stays readable offline. RITES AND PRAYERS Fifteen traditional Vietnamese ceremonial texts (văn khấn) for the full moon, the first day of the lunar month, death anniversaries, grave visits at Thanh Minh, Tết and other occasions. Each text offers two openings to choose from — Buddhist or neutral — depending on how your family keeps the rite. LUNAR CALENDAR A full perpetual calendar: the sexagenary cycle for the day and the month, auspicious hours, the table of twelve officers, and what folk tradition suggests doing or avoiding on a given day. CULTURAL NOTEBOOK Traditional Vietnamese festivals, your own family dates such as birthdays and wedding anniversaries, and a place to note down daily family life. LIFE PROFILE AND REFLECTION For those who want to look back at themselves: habits, choices and the positive things already present in their life, framed by traditional culture. WHO IT IS FOR • Anyone who looks after the ancestral altar and the family's anniversaries • Families who want to preserve their roots and reconnect with relatives • Younger Vietnamese who want to understand the customs but have no one to ask • Anyone interested in Vietnamese heritage and identity PLEASE NOTE The cultural, ceremonial and customary content in this app is offered for reference, to preserve and explain tradition rather than to encourage superstition. The app does not predict the future, makes no claims about good or bad luck, and does not replace the advice of a doctor, a psychologist, a lawyer or a financial professional.
