Handcast

Handcast records what your hands do. Pick a task, point the camera at your hands, and record. Handcast saves the video together with the motion of the phone, so a recording shows not only what happened but how the phone moved while it did. Everything uploads to your own account. WHAT PEOPLE RECORD Cooking and preparing drinks. Cleaning surfaces and floors. Laundry, tidying, packing and moving things. Repairs, assembly and maintenance. Watering plants, taking out the rubbish, and the rest of ordinary manual work. HOW IT WORKS 1. Sign in with your email or with Apple. 2. Choose a task from the list. 3. Read the consent screen. It spells out exactly what a recording contains. 4. Record. Handcast waits until both hands are visible to the camera, then starts. Wearing gloves? Turn on Glove mode in Settings to skip that check. 5. Press and hold the red button for three seconds to stop. The recording uploads on its own, and your recent takes are listed on the home screen. WHAT A RECORDING CONTAINS Video from the rear camera. The motion sensor readings taken alongside it. The camera and phone details needed to make sense of the footage. The task you chose, your height and the kind of place you are in. And, only if you allow it, where you were. No sound is captured at all. YOUR DATA Recordings are private to your account. Location is optional: refuse it and recordings still work, without it. You can delete your account, and every recording with it, from Settings inside the app. There is no undo. Handcast is made for adults contributing first person footage of manual work.
