txt is a plain text editor that stays out of the way. Your notes are ordinary .txt files, kept on your phone. Not a database, not an account, not a cloud folder — files, in UTF-8, that you can export and open anywhere else. Nothing you write is uploaded. A QUIET PAGE The editor has no borders, no toolbar and no formatting. Just your text, set in Roboto Mono, on a page that gets out of the way. Lock the page when you are only reading, so a stray tap cannot change anything. FINDS ITS PLACE IN LONG FILES Line numbers down the side. Bookmarks that remember both the line and what was written on it, so they still find their way after you edit above them. Jump straight to any line number. Highlight passages and they stay put as you edit around them. READS FILES OTHER APPS GIVE UP ON Open any .txt from your file manager. txt works out the encoding first: UTF-8, UTF-16 and UTF-32, and the older regional encodings — GB18030, Big5, Shift-JIS, EUC-JP, EUC-KR, windows-1251, Big5, TIS-620 and more. Files that come out as mojibake elsewhere open as readable text here, and you can override the guess if it gets one wrong.
