Shogi is Japanese chess, and its signature rule is the drop: a piece you capture joins your hand and can return to the board on your side. Nothing is ever truly gone, so games stay sharp to the last move. • Standard 9x9 board with the full opening setup • Captured pieces go to your hand and can be dropped on any legal empty square • Drop rules enforced: no two pawns in a file, no stranded pieces, no pawn-drop mate • Promotion in the far three ranks, prompted when optional and automatic when forced • Only legal moves and drops are offered, so you learn the pieces by playing • Play the computer on Easy, Normal or Hard, as Sente or Gote, or pass and play with a friend • Both hands shown beside the board, plus a tally of wins, losses and draws Learn one new idea — the drop — and a familiar game becomes a completely different one.
