Full description
Somewhere in your home, something is beeping. A charger, a smoke alarm with a weak battery, an earbud case, a UPS in the basement, the whine of a power supply. You can hear it – but you cannot find it. A sound level meter does not help; it measures everything at once. A spectrum analyser shows you frequencies and leaves the rest to you. BeepHunt does the work. HOW IT WORKS 1. Listen. The app breaks the soundscape apart into individual events. 2. Learn. Every event gets a loudness-independent fingerprint. Repetitions are grouped and the repeat interval is measured. 3. Choose. You get a short list: “8.12 kHz, 96 ms, every 2.04 s, heard 11×.” No expertise required. 4. Track. The app follows that one sound and ignores everything else in the room. 5. Find. Warmer or colder as you move. WHAT MAKES IT DIFFERENT • A target score, not a volume meter. The TV, the fridge and a conversation next door do not move the needle. • A countdown to the next signal – but only once the rhythm has been measured reliably. Never a guessed timer. • “That was it!” Even after the sound has stopped: the last 15 seconds are still in memory, so you can pick it retroactively. • Frequency lock for continuous tones such as coil whine that never stop. • Saved sounds for anything that keeps coming back. • Radar sweep: turn slowly once in a circle to get a likely direction range. • With a second Android device this becomes direction finding and room localisation. HONEST ABOUT ITS LIMITS BeepHunt never says “that is a smoke alarm”. It describes what it hears – “short high electronic tone” – and never which device produced it. It cannot judge whether a signal is safety-relevant, and it does not pretend to. Direction readings always come with an honest spread. Where the hardware provides no separate microphone channels, the app says so – and the regular finder keeps working exactly as before. PRIVACY • All analysis runs on your device • Microphone active only during a search you started • No recordings stored, no upload, no account • No ads, no analytics SDKs, no trackers • No camera, contacts or location permission Requires Android 9 or newer.

What's new

The app now speaks plainly. Headings, hints and error messages are shorter and free of jargon. Instead of readings in milliseconds and kilohertz you get what you actually want: high or low, how often it beeps, how often it was heard. New: the display turns by itself when you hold the phone flat and away from you. Also: the radar sweep shows one number instead of three.
