Oursi

Oursi is a private, local-first chat app built for people who want to talk to specific people — not broadcast to everyone. No public feed. No stranger requests. No noise. Just you, the people you choose, and real conversations. WHY OURSI Most chat apps optimize for growth: public profiles, contact-book scraping, algorithmic discovery. Oursi does the opposite. You find people by their exact username — nothing more, nothing less. No searchable directory, no suggested contacts, no accidental exposure. Every conversation starts with a connection request. The other person has to accept before you can message them. Your chat list stays exactly as small as you want it to be. HOW IT WORKS • Sign in with Google — one tap, no new password to remember • Search for someone by their exact username • Send a connection request • Once accepted, start a private 1-to-1 conversation • See typing indicators and read receipts in real time • Keep chatting even offline — messages sync automatically the moment you're back online • Get notified the moment a new message or request arrives BUILT LOCAL-FIRST Your messages live on your device first. The app stays fast and usable even with a spotty connection, and syncs quietly in the background once you're back online — so a bad signal never means a broken conversation. SIMPLE BY DESIGN Oursi doesn't try to be everything. There are no group chats, no calls, no filters, no feeds to scroll. It's a focused space for one-to-one conversations with people you've deliberately chosen to talk to — nothing else competing for your attention. YOUR ACCOUNT, YOUR CALL Manage your profile and username from Settings, and delete your account and data whenever you want. No hoops, no retention games. Oursi is for people who want messaging to feel like a conversation between two people again — not a platform.
