Full description
Translate it. Practise it. Say it. TabiTalk helps you work on the Japanese you need for everyday life. Start with something you want to say, understand the words, and practise speaking. Prepare for a shop visit, a meal out or the next time someone asks you a question in Japanese. START WITH YOUR OWN PHRASES Translate between English and Japanese, explore word meanings and readings, and find simpler ways to express yourself. Use quick drills to begin practising a line instead of leaving it as a translation on your screen. PRACTISE IN A SITUATION Work through scenarios with listening, reading support and speaking practice. Rehearse useful requests and replies in context, from shopping to asking for help. TRY THE NEXT TURN IN CONVERSATION Choose an everyday errand, read Sato-san’s brief and work through the exchange. Use “What could I say?” when you need help with a reply. Conversation gives you a place to rehearse before trying the situation with another person. BRING WORDS FROM WHAT YOU WATCH The separate TabiTalk Chrome extension supports Japanese subtitle learning on Netflix and YouTube on desktop. Save useful words while watching, then return to them in the mobile app with the same account. Japanese subtitle availability depends on the video, title and region. The mobile app does not add subtitles to the Netflix or YouTube mobile apps. BUILD YOUR READING AND SPEAKING BASICS Learn hiragana and katakana and practise reading everyday words. Explore Japanese counters for food, drinks, travel and other things you want to count. Follow your speaking foundation alongside your personal practice. RETURN TO USEFUL LANGUAGE Keep words and phrases in your library and revisit them. Reading help, word meanings and audio support let you explore a sentence without needing to know every character first. WHAT WORKS OFFLINE On-device Japanese–English translation, word-by-word English meanings, kana lessons and counter practice work offline. Download the translation models and any needed Japanese voice or handwriting model before going offline. Audio can fall back to an installed Japanese device voice. Online translation, AI explanations, new generated scenarios, Conversation, expanded counter search and account sync need an internet connection. Video streaming and the subtitle extension also need internet. FOR YOUR LIFE IN JAPAN TabiTalk is for people living, working, studying or travelling in Japan who want to prepare for everyday exchanges. Start with a phrase you need, understand how it works and give yourself a chance to say it.

What's new

Your translation is now the answer: it appears first, with a short practice built right into it. Everyday words such as 箱 and 鉢 now show the readings you would actually hear. The app is also a good deal smaller to download on iPhone, and error messages are clearer.
