Sight Words: Flash Cards helps children practice common English words with spoken flash cards and short sight words games. Tap a card to hear its word, practice with Dolch and Fry lists, or type in the words your child's school sent home. The interface and built-in word lists are in English. Made for beginning readers around ages 4–9, this app gives parents a simple way to return to familiar words. It supports sight-word recognition alongside the reading instruction your child already receives. Choose a list, choose a game and practice a little at a time. PRACTICE THIS WEEK'S SCHOOL WORDS Create a custom list with the English words your child is working on. Use those words in the flash cards and practice games, rather than searching through a different set every week. A custom list can follow a teacher's homework sheet or focus on a few words your child wants to revisit. School lists vary. You can enter the high frequency words, tricky words or other English words assigned by your teacher without needing a particular curriculum pack. This app provides word practice; it does not claim to follow every school's teaching sequence. DOLCH AND FRY SIGHT WORDS The built-in lists include the 220 Dolch sight words, organized into their five graded groups from pre-primer through third grade, plus the Dolch noun list. You can also practice the Fry first 100 words. Words shared by the Dolch and Fry lists are marked so that you can see the overlap. These are English word lists, not translated reading lessons. They can be useful for kindergarten and early elementary readers, homeschooling families and children practicing English as an additional language. Choose the words that fit your child's current reading work. FOUR WAYS TO PRACTICE • Flash cards: see one word clearly, tap to hear it and swipe to mark whether your child knew it or needs more practice. • Listen & Find: listen to a word and choose it from four cards. This connects the spoken word with its written form. • Word Match: find pairs of matching words on the board. • Spell It: hear the word and arrange letter tiles to build it. Short rounds make it easy to fit practice into a break before dinner or another quiet moment. You can return to the same list in a different mode instead of doing every activity in one sitting. The games use the selected word list, including lists you create yourself. HEAR THE WORDS Cards and listening activities use your device's English speech voice to read words aloud. An installed offline English voice supports listening without a connection; voice availability and pronunciation depend on the device and its settings. A child can hear an unfamiliar word before trying to recognize it again. FOLLOW EACH CHILD'S PROGRESS Create a separate profile for each child so their lists and progress stay separate. Review which words are new, being learned or known, and return to words that need another try. A word is marked known after three consecutive correct answers across at least two practice sessions. A missed answer returns it to further practice. AN EVERYDAY READING ROUTINE Use spoken cards instead of preparing another set of paper flash cards. The app does not generate printable worksheets, but it gives you a reusable place for the words you want to practice. An optional reminder can invite you back at a time you choose. The practice activities work offline and contain no ads. No app account or sign-up is required. Profiles and learning progress are stored on your device, and you can save a backup file yourself. Store purchases are handled through purchase services; progress is not shared through a classroom account or cloud dashboard. Pick a small list, listen together and practice at your child's pace.
