Full description
Marrowkin isn't about randomly smashing two creatures together and hoping for something interesting — every trait a creature carries is built from real allele pairs, dominant and recessive, and breeding two creatures runs an actual Punnett-square calculation under the hood to determine what the offspring can inherit. Coat pattern, eye color, size, a handful of rarer traits layered on top — each is its own gene locus with its own inheritance rules, so a recessive trait can hide invisibly for two or three generations and then resurface exactly the way real genetics would allow it to. Every creature you breed gets slotted into a running pedigree, so nothing is ever a dead end — you can trace any individual back through its parents, grandparents, and beyond, which matters once you're hunting for a specific rare combination and need to figure out which line is actually carrying the recessive allele you're after. The core loop is exactly that hunt: a target combination is shown up front, and the goal is reaching it in as few breeding pairs as possible, which means actually reading genotypes instead of guessing. The interface centers on the pedigree itself rather than a flat roster of creatures. The main screen is a branching family tree that grows outward as you breed, with each creature rendered as a small portrait node connected to its parents by lineage lines you can pan and zoom through. Pulling two creatures onto a shared breeding slot opens a lab view where their genotypes sit side by side as rows of colored allele chips, and confirming a pairing plays out the Punnett square as a small animated grid before revealing the offspring — no dice roll hidden behind a button, the actual probability grid is what you're looking at. A discovery log on the side tracks every trait combination you've confirmed exists, filling in like a field guide as your bloodlines get more complex. Everything — every creature, every pedigree, every discovered trait — lives locally on the device, no account and no connection needed.
