Wu Wei

Wu Wei (無為), the art of effortless action, is the Daoist principle of moving with what is natural rather than against it. Wu Wei is a quiet companion for that practice: a calm, beautiful space to slow down, breathe, listen, and return to the Way (Dao). Here there are no streaks or rewards, simply some helpful tools for you to access and practice your study of the Way, and returning to stillness. Key Features: - Read the classics: Sit with timeless Daoist wisdom in a clean, distraction-free reader. Highlight the passages that speak to you and keep them close. Our library currently holds the Dao De Jing (Tao Te Ching). We will be adding the Zhuangzi and the Liezi, as they are currently being translated personally for our app. - Daily Dao: Get a short daily Dao quote. View it from your app, or opt-in to get a daily Dao notification. Add your quote to your home screen with our widget. - Random Dao: Scroll through short quotes in our random Dao reader. Save your favorite, create lists, browse categories, or search by word. The reader is fully adjustable, with options to change backgrounds, text, and more. - Be Still: Immerse yourself in original meditations rooted in Daoist philosophy, not generic mindfulness. You'll also find traditional Eastern music played on the instruments the old sages favored, like the guqin, alongside serene nature sounds and flowing soundscapes. Many tracks are Wu Wei Exclusives, composed for this app and found nowhere else. Ease into sleep with a gentle sleep timer, sit with a soft meditation timer, adjust your queue for longer meditation sessions, and pair any session with tranquil looping video scenes. - Reflect: Look inward with a private journal. Thoughtful Daoist themed prompts and simple categories make it easy to begin. - Breathe with intention Follow gentle breathing guides: Natural Breath, Dan Tian, and the Microcosmic Orbit, paced by a calming expanding circle, never a ticking clock. - Designed for calm: A warm, minimalist design in soft gold and ink, with light and dark themes. * Dao or Tao? They're the same word (道) and the same philosophy: we just use the modern Pinyin spelling (Dao) rather than the older Wade-Giles (Tao).
