Full description
StarDar turns your phone into a sky map. Point it up and see stars, planets, constellations and satellites exactly where they really are. SKY MAP AND AUGMENTED REALITY Over 42,000 stars, the planets of the Solar System, the Moon, nebulae and galaxies. The AR view overlays the sky on your camera feed; the map view shows the whole celestial sphere at any moment. ASTRO-LOCK: AR THAT DOESN'T DRIFT Most sky apps rely on the compass, which can be off by more than ten degrees. StarDar recognises the star pattern in the camera image and calibrates the scene against the sky itself. The result: the object sits where you see it, not next to it. ALERTS WORTH GETTING Notifications for International Space Station (ISS) passes, aurora chances, meteor shower peaks and planetary conjunctions. Computed for your location and checked against the cloud forecast, so the alert stays quiet when the sky is covered. ARIA - YOUR ASTRONOMY ASSISTANT Ask by voice or text: "what is that bright star above the house?", "when can I see Saturn?". Aria answers on your device, using the app's own calculation engines - it does not invent numbers. WEATHER FOR OBSERVING Hour-by-hour cloud cover, seeing, Moon phase and a night score in one place. Weather from MET Norway, satellite orbits from CelesTrak, space weather from NOAA. OBSERVING LOG Record what you saw, with photos, notes and conditions. The log stays on your device and you can export it. A NIGHT MODE THAT IS ACTUALLY RED Under a dark sky a white screen destroys your dark adaptation for ten minutes or more. StarDar's night mode removes practically all green and blue from the screen - it does not just dim, it changes the spectrum. ON YOUR WATCH AND HOME SCREEN Widgets with the next pass and tonight's score. A companion app for Wear OS. PRIVACY WITHOUT AN ASTERISK No accounts. No publisher servers. No analytics. Your log and your conversations with Aria stay on the device. Weather requests use your position rounded to about 2.8 km - the precise one never leaves your phone. WHO IT IS FOR Beginners who finally want to recognise the constellations. Binocular and telescope observers planning a night around specific targets. Aurora chasers and ISS spotters. WHAT YOU NEED A camera for AR mode, a gyroscope for tracking, and internet to fetch forecasts and current orbits. The sky map and the astronomy engine also work without a connection. DATA AND SOURCES HYG star catalogue, OpenNGC deep-sky objects, Astronomy Engine ephemerides, CelesTrak orbits, MET Norway forecasts, NOAA SWPC space weather. Full attributions and licences inside the app.

What's new

The ad banner is now visible on every screen, anchored just above the bottom navigation — previously it appeared on only two screens, and only after scrolling to the very bottom. The AR view stays completely free of ads. The “Remove ads forever” purchase in Settings removes the banner permanently, on every device signed in to the same Google account.
