Full description
Psychology in the order a university teaches it. Cognita is a four-year curriculum of 100 lessons. You start with research methods and the nervous system, and you finish with diagnosis, treatment outcomes and applied work. The 20 courses in between carry the numbers PSY 1.1 to PSY 4.5, so you always know where you are and what comes next. THE CURRICULUM Year 1: Foundations and Biology (5 courses, 25 lessons) 1.1 Research Methods; 1.2 Statistics and Evidence; 1.3 The Nervous System; 1.4 Chemistry and Behavior; 1.5 Sensation and Perception. Year 2: Learning and Cognition (5 courses, 25 lessons) 2.1 Classical Conditioning; 2.2 Operant Conditioning; 2.3 Memory; 2.4 Attention and Consciousness; 2.5 Judgment and Decision Making. Year 3: Development and Social (5 courses, 25 lessons) 3.1 Cognitive Development; 3.2 Attachment and Early Relationships; 3.3 Social Influence; 3.4 Attitudes, Groups and Prejudice; 3.5 Personality and Individual Differences. Year 4: Clinical and Applied (5 courses, 25 lessons) 4.1 Diagnosis and Classification; 4.2 Mood and Anxiety Disorders; 4.3 Psychosis and Serious Mental Illness; 4.4 Treatment and Outcome; 4.5 Applied Psychology. WHAT IS INCLUDED - 100 lessons across 20 courses - 143 quoted and attributed primary-source excerpts, at least one in every lesson - 73 psychologist profiles, with their ideas, major works and influences - A 743-term glossary, 677 of its entries with a worked example - 20 quizzes with 120 questions, every answer explained - 18 classic studies, each with what the original reported and what the replications found - 10 fields of psychology, each with its own courses, psychologists and key terms - Spaced review over the 743 glossary terms, scheduled by how you rate your own recall - Read-aloud on every lesson through your device's text-to-speech service - Search across courses, lessons, psychologists and glossary entries - Progress by year and course, plus bookmarks and private notes - Three home-screen widgets: Quote, Term and Psychologist of the Day FREE LESSONS AND FULL ACCESS The first 10 lessons are free, and they are two complete courses: Research Methods, and Statistics and Evidence. Lesson 1 opens in Wilhelm Wundt's Leipzig laboratory in 1879 and lesson 10 closes on the replication crisis, so you can judge the writing before you pay anything. One purchase, Cognita Full Access, opens the remaining 90 lessons. It opens nothing else, because nothing else is locked. The psychologist profiles, the glossary, every quiz, the classic studies, spaced review, search, bookmarks, notes and the three widgets cost nothing, before you buy and after. There is no subscription, no advertising and nothing further to buy. Google Play handles the payment. Buy it once and you get it back on any device signed in to the same Google account. OFFLINE AND PRIVATE You download the curriculum and the reference library once, with the app, so lessons, quizzes, profiles, glossary entries, studies and review work with no connection. You never make an account. The app carries no internet permission at all. Support, privacy and source links open in your browser. Cognita covers psychology as an academic subject. It gives no medical advice and does not replace a licensed clinician. Your progress, quiz attempts, bookmarks, notes and review state stay on your device. Android backup and device transfer may carry some of that study data, depending on your settings. There is no Cognita server, no analytics and no advertising SDK, so we never see what you study.
