SOS Artista: Drawing Grid

SOS Artista is a drawing grid app designed for painters who work from reference images and want to transfer them accurately to canvas. Add a customizable drawing grid to a reference photo, calculate the exact grid measurements for your canvas, create square cells automatically, and use visual analysis tools to study values and tonal contrast before painting. The idea is simple: prepare and analyze the reference in the app, then have the information you need when you move away from the screen and start drawing or painting on the canvas. DRAW A GRID AND TRANSFER IT TO YOUR CANVAS The grid method is a classic way to transfer a photo, sketch, or reference image while maintaining proportions. SOS Artista helps with this process by calculating where the grid lines should be drawn on the canvas. Configure the drawing grid, enter the canvas dimensions, and the app calculates the corresponding measurements. All measurements are in centimeters (cm). This is especially useful when: • the reference image and canvas have different proportions; • you are comparing different canvas sizes; • you want accurate measurements without calculating every line by hand; • you need a square grid with equal-width cells. You can save, share, or print the measurement sheets and keep them nearby while you work. CREATE SQUARE GRID CELLS AUTOMATICALLY If you prefer working with square cells, SOS Artista can calculate and create a square grid automatically. This makes it easier to prepare a regular drawing grid without manually adjusting rows and columns. CUSTOMIZE YOUR GRID AND COMPOSITION GUIDES Adjust line color, thickness, and opacity to make the grid easier to use with different reference images. You can also use composition guides such as diagonals, the rule of thirds, or a center cross, and add grid numbering whenever you need it. ANALYZE YOUR REFERENCE IMAGE A reference image contains more than outlines and proportions. Values, light and dark areas, and tonal relationships also matter. SOS Artista includes different views to help you study the image before painting: • grayscale; • posterized grayscale; • tonal contrast map. These tools can help simplify complex references, separate major light and shadow shapes, and make value relationships easier to see. WORK WITH DETAILS AND CROPPED SECTIONS Zoom in, crop, and save cropped sections with different proportions to study details. This is useful for faces, hands, architectural details, small objects, and parts of larger compositions. ORGANIZE YOUR REFERENCE AND DETAILS AS A PROJECT Each project starts with one main reference image, but you can crop and enlarge details and save them as additional images within the same project. Each image or crop can have its own drawing grid and one or more measurement sheets. For example, if you know that a detail will occupy 20 × 20 cm on your canvas, you can grid that crop separately and calculate the exact measurements for drawing its lines. You can also add notes to the project and to individual images, and export measurement sheets for separate reference while you work. WORK OFFLINE AND KEEP YOUR REFERENCES PRIVATE SOS Artista works offline and processes your images on your device. You do not need to create an account or upload your reference images to the cloud to use the app's tools. Important: your projects, ideas and saved sheets live only on this device and are lost if you uninstall the app or switch phones. Anything you downloaded to your gallery is kept.
