Soma Shop

Soma started in 1984 primarily as an export company that got into retail in India in 1995. Contemporary styles of clothing and other textile products in tempting colors are produced following the traditional wisdom of hand block printing while keeping local crafts & communities thriving. Soma has offered the world Indian hand-crafted fashion and home textiles as a viable alternative to mass-produced textiles. Soma is an outstanding example of what can be achieved when work ethic and skill are applied to an ancient craft technique. Using the knowledge and techniques that have been passed down through many generations, the art of hand block printing brings passion and excitement into the 21st century. Block-printed textiles reflect the touch of human hands, sensibility, and skill of the craftsmen; and they represent a heritage craft that if we do not respect and protect may be lost forever. Soma joins all those people around the world who are working hard to keep these traditions alive. Soma Shop is where people go for authentic hand-block-printed dresses, kurtas, shirts, sarees, quilts, bedspreads, curtains, cushions, Tablecloths, napkins, and more. Beautifully drawn floral, geometric, bird & animal motifs are printed with hand-carved wood blocks on pure natural cotton, linen, silk, banana & bamboo fiber fabrics. The colors used are machine washable and absolutely human skin friendly. Soma's range of household textiles and fashion is evolving and expanding throughout the year.
