Full description
Belonging to a family is a feeling, and feelings need tending. That is what this app is for. It starts with a living family tree — the people you come from, with faces and stories. More will follow; the family tree is the first of them. Every card says how you are related Turn kinship on, and each person's card shows how that person stands to the one in the middle: son-in-law, niece, great-granddaughter, cousin. It reaches five generations up and five down. Where a language has its own words for these, they are used — in Serbian, your father's brother is not the same word as your mother's brother. The family's language is set apart from the language of the app, so you can read the app in English and the kinship in Serbian. A family tree you can find your way around Every person gets a card with a photo, a name and the dates you know. Move and zoom with your fingers, fit the whole family tree to the window, put any person in the middle. You decide how many generations show above and below. Search runs over first name, family name, birth name, nickname, birthplace and country. Faces instead of empty circles A photo comes from the camera or the gallery and is cropped to the card. Anyone without one is drawn instead, in a way that suits their sex and their age. For the ancestors nobody ever photographed, that drawing stays. A life is more than two dates Each person can carry what happened to them: birth, marriage, moving house, school, work, emigration, death — with places, and with dates as exact or as rough as you really know them. "About 1890" is a valid answer. Certificates and documents belong there too, and photos, video and sound, and a chronicle where the family's story is written in your own words. Everyone decides who may see their family trees A family tree is shared only if you want it shared, and only with the people you pick. They can look at it; they cannot change it. You see at any time who has access and can take it back with one tap. If someone else should carry the family tree on, you hand them the authorship — once, and for good. On paper Printing goes through Android's print dialog: printer, paper and size are chosen there, the quality beforehand in the app. The page carries the title and picture of the family tree at the top, the date and page number at the foot. With no printer, take "Save as PDF" in the same dialog. It also saves as an image, PNG or JPG, into your gallery. Bring what you already have Existing family data is read from GEDCOM, from JSON, or from a ZIP with the pictures in it. Before anything is kept you see the finished family tree and can still walk away; an import always lands in a new family tree. A family tree can be written out again as GEDCOM or JSON, with or without pictures. Connection, account, data It does not work without the internet: family data lives on the server, not on the phone. You can start on this one device without giving an email address. A cloud account is free and optional; it lets several devices reach the same family trees. No advertising, no measuring, no recording — neither an ad network nor an analytics tool is built in. A family's data is never sold. Nothing leaves except what you share yourself, with the people you hand the code to. Languages English, German, French, and Serbian in both Cyrillic and Latin script, with its own spelling for Switzerland. Who it is for For the aunt who knows every name. For the granddaughter who wants to know whose name she carries. A family tree is built and kept by the grown members of the family; children and grandchildren are in it. Start with a single person — with yourself. The family gathers around.

What's new

Family days: birthdays and anniversaries of your family at a glance, with a mark on the person and a list of the next 30 days. Partner selection no longer offers blood relatives. Fixes and refinements throughout the app.
