SnowPit

SnowPit is a field book for people who dig a pit and read the snow. Open a pit and look at the still wall. A clear face is one band. A banded face shows three. A deep face shows five. Record the face when the wall has changed. The book lists every pit: name, slope, crystal, and a short note. Open one to edit it, set the density, read the mark log, or set it beside another pit. An aspect card reminds you what each compass face usually holds. The week is a vertical pit. A busier day grows a thicker band. Tap a band to see which pits were marked. A short atlas covers rounds, facets, columns, and needles. The cut card walks the shovel from the skin down to the ground. The settle timer waits while you check the shovel, the card, and the shade. Before you fill the hole, a short list makes sure the weak band, the density, and the card are written. In the tent, keep your name, the home slope, how long a sample should settle, and whether you work in a glove, bare hand, or mitt. Switch between day and night, walk the tour again, or bring the sample pits back.
