Full description
Everyone gets a word. Almost everyone. Imposter is a pass-and-play party game for 3 to 16 people in the same room. One phone goes around the circle. Most players see a secret word. The Imposter sees nothing at all — and has to fake it. Here's the twist: you are never told what you are. Only the Imposter gets a role reveal, because they have no word to show. Everyone else just sees a word — and has no way of knowing whether it's the word everyone else got, or the Undercover's near-miss. You might be lying without realising it. Then you talk. One clue each, going around the table. Say too much and you hand the word to the Imposter. Say too little and everyone thinks it is you. Vote someone out, find out what they really were, then decide together — keep talking, or go straight to another vote. And catching the Imposter might not save you. Before they go, they get one guess at the secret word. Name it and they steal the round out from under you. No internet. No accounts. No sign-up. Open the app and play. THREE ROLES • Civilian — you know the secret word. Describe it without giving it away. • Imposter — you get no word at all. Blend in and work it out from the clues. • Undercover — your word is similar but wrong. And you won't be told, so good luck. FEATURES • Plays fully offline — no wifi needed for a single round, on a plane, in a car, anywhere • No account, no login, no personal data collected • 3 to 16 players on a single phone • 90 free word pairs across 6 categories: Animals, Food & Drink, Places, Everyday Objects, Professions, Nature & Weather • 530 word pairs in total with Imposter Premium — every free category doubles, plus 14 more packs: Movies & TV, Sports & Games, Technology, Travel & Transport, Music & Bands, Brands & Logos, Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Nostalgic 2000s, Football, Anime, Video Games, Landmarks & Wonders, Cricket, Space & Beyond • Keep score across the whole night — points every round, running scoreboard, reset when you're done • The Imposter's last chance: get caught, name the word, steal the round anyway • Talk it out or vote again — an inconclusive vote never forces the round to end • Save your squad — store up to 2 groups with names and avatars, dragged into your real sitting order • A random player starts every round, so it's never the same person first • Fair by default: whoever starts the round is never dealt the Imposter (switchable) • Build your own word pack for inside jokes, your workplace, or your friend group — up to 10 packs with Premium • Auto-balanced roles that scale with your player count, or set the numbers yourself • Private reveal card with a tap-to-flip or press-and-hold mode so nobody sees the wrong card • Optional discussion timer to keep rounds moving • Secret ballot voting on the phone, or vote out loud and just tap who lost • Light and dark themes • Free to play, with no ads — one optional unlock, no subscriptions, nothing to sign up for GREAT FOR Road trips, house parties, family dinners, classrooms, icebreakers, camping, waiting rooms, pubs, sleepovers, and anywhere the wifi is terrible. HOW IT WORKS 1. Pick a saved group or add players, drag them into your sitting order, choose your categories, and start. 2. A random player starts. Pass the phone. Each player privately reveals their card, then hides it before passing on. 3. Go around the circle giving one clue each. 4. Discuss, then vote — secretly on the phone or out loud. 5. The eliminated player's role is revealed. Keep playing until one side wins. Civilians win when every Imposter and Undercover has been voted out. The other side wins the moment the Imposters alone — or the Undercover alone — match the number of civilians still in. No wifi required. No data collected. Just your friends, one phone, and someone at the table who is definitely lying.
