Slo Jelly

Slo Jelly is a layered puzzle. Every square in the jar holds a stack of up to three jellies and only the one on top is in play, so the board you can see is just the surface of a much deeper problem. Peeling a colour away reveals whatever was hiding beneath it, and a square is only truly finished when its whole stack has gone. The move is a trade rather than a swap of neighbours. Tap any jelly, then tap another jelly in the same row or the same column, however far away it is, and the two change places. The cost is what makes it interesting: a trade with a neighbour costs one step, and a trade right across the jar costs one step for every square it travels. That turns every plan into a small budget question, and a clever short trade is usually worth more than a spectacular long one. Three or more of the same colour in a row or a column peel away at once. Nothing falls and nothing is refilled, so the jar only ever gets emptier and the layout you leave behind is the layout you have to solve next. Each jar sets a quota of jellies to peel and a number of steps to do it in, and emptying the jar completely finishes it immediately no matter what the quota says. Two tools are provided in every jar. Melt removes a single top jelly anywhere, which is the way out of an awkward corner, and stir shuffles all the exposed jellies without touching what is underneath. The jar shelf remembers every jar you have finished and your best result for each. Eight awards follow long term goals, and a local ranking board compares your best jar with a field of rivals. The game runs offline with no accounts, no purchases of any kind and no advertising. The settings screen holds one control that erases all saved progress.
