Slate Student: Homework Helper

**Slate Student is an AI homework helper that teaches kids how to solve the problem — not an answer bot that lets them copy and move on.** Your child takes a photo of a homework question. Slate Student walks them through it step-by-step, in the voice of a patient tutor, with the concept explained in plain language before the answer appears. Built across the subjects they see in school: math, science, reading comprehension, history, and language arts. 📚 What Slate Student does • Reads a homework question — handwritten or printed • Identifies the subject and the concept being taught • Walks through the solution step by step in kid-friendly language • Shows the reasoning, not just the result • Ends with a quick comprehension check to reinforce the idea 🎮 Quests, not answers Slate Student uses a quest format that makes working through a problem feel like a game: each step is a checkpoint, and completing a problem grants a reward. The gamification is on the process of understanding — because "how did you get there?" is what makes knowledge stick. 📐 Subjects covered • Arithmetic, pre-algebra, algebra, and geometry • Word problems and multi-step math • Science — physics, chemistry, and biology at the 6th-to-9th grade level • Reading comprehension • History and social studies • Language arts and grammar 👨‍👩‍👧 Built with parents in mind • No account creation — no email, no name, no profile • No ads, anywhere, ever • No remote data collection — homework photos are processed by the AI model and discarded, never stored on our servers • Designed with child privacy as a starting assumption — no messaging, no profiles, no leaderboards, no social features • No persistent advertising identifiers • No third-party analytics or crash-reporting service is initialized in this app — no events are tracked, no crash data is sent, no identifiers are created • Optional subscription upgrade — gated, clear, and never intrusive 🎒 How it works for your child 1. Snap a photo of the homework question 2. Read the plain-language explanation of the concept 3. Step through the solution at their own pace 4. Answer the comprehension check to "complete the quest" 5 free quests every week come with the app — enough for most homework nights, without pushing screen time. An optional subscription unlocks unlimited quests. ❓ FAQ **Does it just give the answer?** No. The design is the opposite. Kids get the concept, then the reasoning, then the answer, then a quick check that confirms they followed along. **What subjects does it work best on?** Math and reading comprehension are strongest. Science and history are solid through 9th grade. It is not a replacement for a human tutor on advanced or AP-level material. **Is my child's homework sent anywhere?** The photo is sent to a cloud AI model for analysis, then discarded. It is not stored on our servers, not used for training, and not associated with any user account (there is no user account). **Are there ads?** No. Slate Student does not show ads and does not integrate ad networks. Analytics and crash-reporting services are also not initialized in this flavor — the app does not transmit events, crash payloads, or user identifiers to any third-party observability service. **How much does it cost?** The app is free to download with 5 quests per week included. A subscription unlocks unlimited quests; the price is displayed in the paywall and can be cancelled anytime from the Play Store. Download Slate Student and help the next homework night end with "I get it" — not "what's the answer?"
