Full description
Look up on any given day and the sky is telling a story — but most of us never learned to read it. Cloudspotter is a friendly field guide that teaches you to, turning a glance out the window into something you actually understand. Every cloud type is drawn right in the app as a soft, drifting illustration on a living sky, so you learn to recognise the puffy heaps of cumulus, the flat grey sheets of stratus, the wispy streaks of cirrus, and the towering anvil of a storm-bearing cumulonimbus by their real shapes rather than a blurry photo. Each entry explains, in plain language, how to spot that cloud, what it often hints about the coming weather, and — crucially — how to tell it apart from the look-alikes that trip people up. An altitude-ladder view lays the whole sky out at once, showing which clouds ride low, which sit in the middle, and which drift high up in the cold, so the classification finally makes sense as a system rather than a list of Latin names. There's even a small collection of the sky's showpieces — lenticular lens clouds, pouchy mammatus, halos and contrails — for the days the weather puts on a real display. The part that turns looking into a habit is your spotted log. Mark each cloud you see in the wild, jot a note or a place, and watch a progress ring fill as you work your way through the guide. When you want to test yourself, the identify quiz shows you a cloud to name, asks which altitude band it belongs to, or which sky tends to bring rain — revealing the answer with a short explanation and tracking your best score. Set the drift animation to taste, pick your accent colour, and take it anywhere — it's completely offline, with no account and no ads, and the "what this sky means" notes are always framed as friendly general hints rather than a forecast. Whether you're a walker, a plane-spotter, a budding meteorologist, or just someone who likes a good sky, Cloudspotter helps you finally know what you're looking at.
