Full description
Most SHSAT prep starts with drilling. That is the fastest way to waste the time you have, because you cannot study everything at once and you do not yet know what is weak. This app starts with a 24-question diagnostic, about half an hour. It is not a score. It tells you where to begin, and builds a study plan around your test date. BUILT FOR THE TEST AS IT IS NOW The SHSAT is computer-adaptive now, and it runs on screen: 50 questions in ELA and 50 in Math, 180 minutes, one question at a time — you can move around inside a reading passage set until you submit it, and nowhere else — and no calculator. Practice here runs by those same rules — timed, one at a time, no going back, no calculator — with the on-screen tools to work with: highlight a passage, cross out a choice you have ruled out, line numbers to point at. The format itself is a lesson, so nothing on test day is new. And one of the full-length tests adapts. The Adaptive Practice Test picks what to ask next from how the sitting is going, the way the real exam does, and afterwards tells you the difficulty level you were working at in each section. The other full-length tests are linear: the whole paper is drawn before you start and does not change with your answers. Either way every sitting draws a fresh set of questions to the same blueprint, so a test is worth sitting more than once. Drills and the question bank are not adaptive; you pick those yourself. WORKED ANSWERS, NOT ANSWER KEYS Every question shows the method, step by step, and then checks the answer against it. Get one wrong and you find out why, not just which letter you missed. MADE FOR TABLETS TOO The SHSAT gives you scrap paper and no calculator, so the working is the whole job. On a tablet the question sits beside a scratch pad you can write on with a stylus or a finger, and your working stays next to the worked explanation afterwards so you can compare them line by line. Reading passages open side by side with their questions rather than folded into a drawer. WHAT IS INSIDE - 1,231 practice questions for the Grade 8 test; 1,349 in all, including the Grade 9 material - 82 lessons covering every topic, each with worked examples - 47 full-length reading and revising passage sets - Full practice tests: 100 questions, 3 hours, in the digital format — linear, or the Adaptive Practice Test - A one-page report your child can send you when they want to show how it is going The pass unlocks all of it. What stays free is next. FREE, PERMANENTLY - The 24-question diagnostic and the study plan it builds - Your error journal and your progress, always - 10 new questions a day, up to 150 in total - Unlimited redo of anything you have already answered Your progress is never locked — with or without the pass, and after it expires. THE PASS: ONE PAYMENT, NO AUTO-RENEWAL It lasts 365 days from the day you buy it, it does not renew itself, and you will not be charged again. Google Play files prepaid purchases under Subscriptions, so that is where you will see it, but there is nothing to cancel and no second charge to stop. It unlocks every full practice test, the whole lesson library, and the whole question bank with no daily limit. NO DATA COLLECTED No account. No sign-up. No analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and nothing sold to anyone. Your work is kept on this device and in your own Google backup, and goes nowhere else. The Data safety section on this page says no data is collected because that is literally true of this app. Written for students sitting the SHSAT for Grade 8 or Grade 9 entry.

What's new

Some math graphs now show the lines their questions describe; two had shown empty axes. During a test, the End, Notepad and Line reader buttons each get their own tap area, and the question counter fits narrow phones. A declined card now says the purchase did not go through. A Pass bought again early keeps all its time after a reinstall.
