Calls drop. Video calls freeze and reconnect. Pages won't load even with full bars. Speed tests say everything is fine. SignalScope finds out why. "Mobile data goes on and off" has about a dozen different causes, and each needs a different fix. Signal-bar widgets and speed tests show you the current state. SignalScope records what your phone's radio, network and connection are doing over time, then works out which cause is behind each drop. WHAT IT CAN TELL APART • Weak coverage or no service • Your phone switching back and forth between masts while you're standing still • A connection that stays up but stops working (DNS or IPv6 problems) • Your phone switching between Wi-Fi and mobile data • Data paused during calls • Network and SIM registration failures • Dual-SIM problems, such as the second SIM interrupting the data SIM, or your phone switching which SIM carries data • Roaming and Wi-Fi calling handovers Each finding comes with the evidence behind it and how confident the app is. The app ranks causes by what it has actually seen on your phone, not by a fixed list. WHAT YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT For each problem it finds, SignalScope suggests the settings change that addresses it and opens the right settings screen for you. It is also clear about what Android does not allow an app to change. SEE IT OVER TIME AND ON A MAP • A timeline of every drop, with what the radio and network were doing at that moment • A coverage map of where your connection works and where it fails, per network and band • Offline maps for the areas you choose to download PRIVATE BY DESIGN • Everything it measures stays on your phone. There are no accounts, ads or analytics. • Locations are rounded to an area before they are saved. Exact coordinates are never stored. • You can choose to share anonymous coverage summaries to a shared map comparing networks. This is off unless you turn it on, it only sends over Wi-Fi, and it contains no device or account identifier. GOOD TO KNOW • SignalScope runs in the background with a visible notification so it can catch drops when they happen. • It runs small connection tests, which use up to about 1 MB of mobile data a day. • Some phones stop background apps to save battery. If you see gaps, exclude SignalScope from battery optimisation. • Works best on dual-SIM phones running recent Android versions. No root needed. Advanced users can optionally connect Shizuku for extra radio detail. SignalScope is in early access and developed by Bonufied. Feedback is welcome.
