Yes. Text recognition runs on the device, always. Do I have to wait before I can search? No. You can search text in photos while the rest are still being prepared, and recent pictures are ready first. Can it find text in screenshots I saved last year? Yes, once they have been prepared, as long as the words are printed and readable. Can I search my gallery by text when a picture is not in the screenshots folder? Yes. ShotSeek works as a photo text finder across every folder you have given it access to. Does it upload my pictures? No. Nothing is uploaded, at any point. What if I only allow some photos? Then the search covers those photos. You can change that choice whenever you like. What ShotSeek does not do Saying this plainly will save some of you a download: • It reads printed words. It does not recognise objects, faces or scenes, so searching for "white car" will not find one • It reads the Latin alphabet.
