Full description
Turn your screen black and keep listening. ScreenVeil is a black screen overlay that covers your display while whatever you were already playing carries on playing. One tap on the floating button turns the screen black. Tap again and you are back. ScreenVeil never touches the app underneath. It only draws a dark layer over your own screen. WHY TURN THE SCREEN OFF WITH AN OVERLAY Save battery on AMOLED and OLED AMOLED and OLED panels switch off the pixels that show pure black. A true black screen overlay can clearly cut how much power your display uses during long sessions. On an LCD phone the screen stays lit, so the saving is small, and we would rather say that up front. Hide your screen in public On a bus, in a queue, in a shared room, nobody needs to see your display. Screen off mode hides the picture while the sound carries on, so your screen stays private. Stop accidental touches With the screen off, a pocket, a sleeve or a child's hand cannot tap something by mistake. The black screen blocks touches until you unlock it on purpose. Fall asleep without a bright screen Set the sleep timer and screen off mode takes over on its own. No light in the room, nothing to put down before you drift off. Dim instead of full black Some nights pure black is too much. Dim mode drops the display to a low glow instead of switching it off, so you can still glance at it. HOW THE BLACK SCREEN WORKS 1. Open ScreenVeil and tap Start Service. 2. Grant the display over other apps permission Android asks for. 3. A small floating button appears on screen. Drag it anywhere you like. 4. Tap the floating button and the screen turns black. 5. Touch the screen to show the unlock button, tap it, and the screen comes back. That is the whole app. No account, no setup wizard, no tutorial to sit through. FEATURES - True black screen overlay, built for AMOLED and OLED battery saving - Dim mode for a low glow instead of a full black screen - Sleep timer that blacks the screen out on its own - Floating button you can drag and park anywhere on screen - Quick Settings tile, so one swipe turns the screen off - Pocket mode that blacks the screen out when the phone goes in a pocket - Biometric unlock, so only you can lift the black screen - Clock and date on the black screen so you can still check the time - Touch blocking while screen off mode is active, with a deliberate unlock - Light on memory, starts instantly, no sign up WHAT SCREENVEIL DOES NOT DO ScreenVeil is a display utility and nothing more. It does not connect to any service, does not change how any other app behaves, does not unlock or bypass any app's features, and does not download, record or copy anything. It draws a black layer over your own screen and removes it when you ask. Everything else on your phone goes on exactly as it did before. PERMISSIONS AND PRIVACY ScreenVeil needs one permission: display over other apps. That is what draws the black screen overlay. The app does not read your screen, does not record audio or video, and does not need your files, contacts or location. WHO USES SCREEN OFF MODE - Students listening to recorded lectures while writing notes on paper - Commuters on long bus and train rides - Anyone falling asleep without a bright screen in the room - Workouts, walks and chores where the phone sits in a pocket or armband - Low battery days when you need the sound but not the picture AN HONEST NOTE ON BATTERY SAVING Battery saving depends on your phone. Pure black pixels cost almost nothing on an AMOLED or OLED screen, and that is where the real saving comes from. The brighter your screen was and the longer the session, the more you save. We do not promise a fixed percentage, because nobody can measure that for every device. Install ScreenVeil, tap the floating button, and let the screen go dark.
