Full description
Backlight is a calm, private home for the .gba files you already own. It plays the classic 16-bit handheld games you import from your own device no ads, no accounts, no trackers, and nothing to sign up for. The chrome is dark and quiet, so the game is the brightest thing on screen. WHAT IT DOES • Import your own .gba files, including from .zip archives. • A tidy library with search and sort, and a clean, generated cover for every game. • Automatic battery saves, plus save states with thumbnails and an auto-state whenever you leave a game. • Fast-forward and rewind, with a clear on-screen speed indicator. • Cheat codes, per game. • On-screen controls you can lay out, resize and fade, with haptics — or connect a Bluetooth or USB controller and the on-screen buttons step aside. • A crisp, pixel-accurate picture with integer scaling, in portrait or landscape. • Per-game settings, a quick menu, and screenshots. • Runs on a built-in high-level BIOS by default; supply your own BIOS if you prefer. WHAT IT WON'T DO Backlight never includes games and cannot find or download them. There are no "get games" buttons and no links to game sites — you play the files you already own. It bundles no console BIOS and no commercial content. OPEN SOURCE Backlight is built on the mGBA core (MPL-2.0). The full open-source licence list, and a link to our core source, is in the app under Help & Legal.
