Full description
Sablier limits the time you spend on your phone, with rules you set yourself and can read back at any moment. WHAT IT DOES • A daily limit per app. Thirty minutes of browser, an hour of video: past that, the app stops opening until tomorrow. • An immediate block, for as long as you choose. The whole phone, or only the apps you pick. • Schedules that come back every day. 10:30 pm – 7:00 am on weekdays, for instance. • A single cap for the whole day. • App groups, so one rule can cover several apps at once. TWO MODES, AND THE DIFFERENCE MATTERS Normal mode can be changed or cancelled at any time: the block screen offers to go through anyway, after a short wait. Strict mode is fixed until it ends. Nothing can shorten it or replace it, and Sablier can protect itself from being uninstalled for its duration. Choose it knowing that. WHAT STAYS AVAILABLE, ALWAYS A block must never cut you off. Three apps escape every block, strict mode included, and open straight from the block screen: • the phone, so an emergency call is never blocked; • the clock, so an alarm can always be stopped; • Sablier, so you keep control of your own settings. The messaging apps you designate join them for the length of an incoming call. WHAT IT MEASURES Today's screen time, against your ordinary day. Time spent app by app, with how often you opened each one and how it spread across the hours. Time spent off your phone during a block — measured, not estimated. How many times you reached for something and the block screen stopped you. Three optional signals warn you of a drift: leisure with almost no pause, short visits that keep repeating, a day that runs past your other days. YOUR DATA CANNOT LEAVE Sablier does not request the Internet permission. That is not a promise: Android then prevents it from opening any network connection at all, and anyone can verify it. There is no account, no server, no advertising, no analytics. Everything the app measures stays in its private storage, and goes away with it if you uninstall. ACCESSIBILITY SERVICE Sablier uses Android's accessibility service for three things, and three only: 1. recognising the app in the foreground, to enforce your limits; 2. recognising an incoming call notification — its category only, never the sender or the text — so it never stops you answering; 3. during a strict block, and only inside the Settings app, looking for the name "Sablier" on screen, so the block cannot be switched off before it ends. Sablier does not read your messages, your passwords, the contents of your screens, or the text of your notifications. None of these readings is recorded, and none of them can be transmitted. WHAT IT IS NOT It is not a monitoring tool. Sablier is for whoever installs it, for themselves: there is no parent account, no remote dashboard, no second device watching. The rules are set on the phone, by the person holding it, and they can read them back at any time. It is not a website blocker. It is not a screen-time social network.

What's new

Sablier now explains the accessibility service in full before you turn it on: why it is needed, the three things it accesses, and what it keeps. You choose to accept or decline, and the home screen asks the same way.
