Full description
ROT is a screen time app that does not nag you. Most screen time tools show you a number and hope you feel guilty. ROT does something else: when you go past the limit you set, it slowly ruins the app you are stuck in. How it works Give any app a daily budget. Stay under it and ROT never appears. Go past it and an affliction begins as a speck you could mistake for a dead pixel, then grows across the screen over the next minute until the app is unusable. The more you scroll, the faster it spreads. Once the screen is gone, you have two honest ways out: answer a few questions about how you actually spend your time to buy back fifteen minutes, or take the same questions to remove the limit entirely. Each unlock costs more than the last. Choose your affliction Void: a singularity opens and pulls the app into it. Brainrot: the picture deep-fries, tears, and strobes. Melt: the screen liquefies and runs down the glass. CRT Death: scanlines, then the tube collapses to a dot. Tar: black liquid floods up from the bottom. Custom: bring your own image or video. What else is in the box Today view with screen time by hour, distance scrolled, and unlocks. Limit your three most-used apps in one step. Home screen widgets for screen time and a live void. Preview any affliction before you commit to it. Light and dark themes, sound and haptics you can switch off. Privacy ROT has no internet permission. It cannot send anything anywhere, even by accident. Usage data stays on your phone. There are no accounts, no ads, and no purchases. Permissions ROT asks for Usage access, to read which apps were in the foreground and for how long. Display over other apps, to draw the affliction on top of the app you are in. Accessibility service, to know which app is in front and how far you scroll inside apps you have limited. While an affliction is running it also reads visible on-screen text purely to animate it. That text is never stored and never leaves the device. Password fields are always skipped. ROT is not an accessibility tool for people with disabilities; it uses the service to enforce the limits you set on yourself.
