Full description
Rook Table Piles is a quiet two-player board game against the machine, played on a felt table with cream and oxblood discs. It is entirely offline, entirely silent, and it never asks you for anything. THE TABLE Fifty-two cells: an eight-by-eight grid with a three-cell notch cut from each corner, leaving a broad cross. Both sides open with eighteen single discs filling the inner block, three of each colour in every row. A PILE BELONGS TO ITS TOP DISC Take any number of discs from the top of a pile you control and carry that sub-stack in a straight line, exactly as many cells as discs you carried. Take one, travel one. Take four, travel four. It lands on top of whatever is already there. THE FIVE CAP IS THE WHOLE GAME No pile ever stands taller than five. When a landing pushes it higher, discs are pushed off the BOTTOM until five remain, and this is where the game lives. A disc of yours that falls off returns to your reserve rail. A disc of your opponent's that falls off leaves the game for good. That single rule turns capturing into an economy. Every disc on your rail is a guaranteed future turn: instead of moving, you may spend one and place it on any pile or any empty cell, taking that pile instantly. Which means landing on your own colour is frequently the stronger play, because you get the disc back and the tempo with it. Bury your opponent and you also have to keep them off their rail, because a player who starts a turn with no pile and no reserve has no legal move, and loses. READ THE PILE BEFORE YOU COMMIT Tap any pile and its ladder opens: every disc listed top first, the ones you are carrying ringed in brass, and the exact landing pile previewed including everything that will be pushed off the bottom and where each fallen disc goes. Nothing is committed until you press Play turn. Reserve rails stand beside the table with live counts. WHAT IS INSIDE - Five sections: Play, Stats, Levels, How and Awards. - Three opponents. Casual plays any legal turn. Steady looks a turn ahead. Club searches two turns ahead and weighs what you can answer with. - Choose who opens the game, and turn the overflow preview on or off once you no longer need it. - A record book that tracks tables taken, discs pushed out of play, discs recovered to your rail, the largest reserve you have held, your longest pile and your best streak. - Twelve awards earned at the table, from your first win to five hundred patient turns. - Everything is drawn live on a canvas: felt, bevelled discs, contact shadows. No photographs, no clip art. NO NOISE OF ANY KIND No internet connection is used or needed. No adverts, no analytics, no trackers, no accounts, no permissions beyond an optional vibration. No sound at all: feedback is visual, with a short haptic tap you can switch off. Nothing is bought, bet or wagered. Your record is stored on your device and stays there. Set the table, take from the top, and remember that whatever falls off the bottom is coming back.
