Full description
London, 1888. You are Inspector Arthur Vance of Scotland Yard, and ten cases are waiting on your desk. Detective Casebook is a hand-drawn mystery game about looking carefully and thinking clearly. Every room is a crime scene to be reconstructed piece by piece — and every case ends with you naming a suspect and being right, or being wrong. SEARCH THE SCENE Forty rooms across ten cases, each one drawn by hand. Objects are missing from every scene; find where each belongs and restore the room to what it was the night of the crime. There is no timer. Take as long as you like. READ WHAT YOU FIND Rooms give up evidence — a jammed flue lever, a torn letter of disinheritance, a trail of frost across a solarium floor. Each is recorded in your casebook with what it means, not just what it is. BUILD THE CASE The Mind Place is your deduction board. Four questions per case, four pieces of evidence that answer them. Connect the right fact to the right question and the picture comes together. Connect the wrong one and nothing happens — the board will not flatter you. MAKE THE ACCUSATION Establishing the facts is not a verdict. You still have to name somebody. Charge the right person first time and the case closes clean; charge the wrong one and you are told so plainly, without being told who did it. The answer is never handed over. TEN CASES I The Frostbite Manor Murders — a cold night, an infant alone, a lord vanished II The Grand Theatre Poisoning — the soprano collapses mid-aria III Blood on the Orient Line — a locked sleeper car in the Alps IV The Clockmaker's Alibi — an impossible explosion where time stood still V The Curse of the Nile Pharaoh — a tomb mask swapped during a blackout VI The Venetian Masquerade Murder — a poisoned goblet at Carnivale VII The Clockwork Automaton of Vienna — a machine kills its own creator VIII Midnight at Raven's End — a keeper gone, the beacon burning green IX The Casino Royale Heist — three wheels rigged to strike zero at once X The Final Dossier — the syndicate unmasked inside Scotland Yard itself THE LONDON GAZETTE A hundred questions drawn from the cases themselves, ten per chapter, and never about a case you have not yet opened. Nothing is spoiled. THE FORENSIC LAB Dust a print and compare it against the file. It will rule one innocent suspect out. It will never tell you who did it — that is your job. PLAYS ANYWHERE • Works completely offline • No advertisements • No in-app purchases • No account, no sign-in, no data collected • Under 10 MB, and works with no network at all Every scene is vector artwork drawn in code, and every sound effect is synthesised — which is why a game this size holds forty rooms.
