Roanil - Korea Hiking Maps

IMPORTANT: The interface is in Korean only, and coverage is limited to South Korea. If you do not read Korean, this app will be hard to use. Open any map of a Korean mountain and the trail you are looking for usually isn't on it. And the features that matter most - offline maps, routes you build yourself - are usually the ones you have to pay for. Roanil (노닐) keeps only what matters, builds it properly, and charges nothing for it. WHO IT IS FOR - People who lose an evening deciding where to walk this weekend - Anyone who has opened a general map app on a mountain and found no trail on it - Anyone who has seen a hike on YouTube or a blog and wanted to walk that exact route - Anyone whose map has frozen deep in the mountains with no signal MAPS THAT SHOW THE TRAILS Not just the main roads. Hiking trails, forest roads and unnamed side paths are on the map too. We take open map data and build our own tiles from it, which is why those paths are there. Peak names, elevations and trail junctions are drawn in as well. WHAT'S ALREADY ON THE MAP More than 2,500 routes across South Korea, most of them official routes designated or published by public bodies: - Korea Forest Service: the 100 Famous Mountains, and the national trail inventory - Durunubi walking trails, from the Korea Tourism Organization - Korea National Park Service trails - National Forest Trails, the Baekdudaegan ridge, the East-West Trail - City trails around Seoul, Gyeonggi and Incheon, including the Bukhansan Dulle-gil Popular mountains such as Bukhansan, Jirisan, Seoraksan and Hallasan have several routes to choose from, so you can pick the one that suits the day. BUILD YOUR OWN ROUTE There are two ways. 1. Tap the map to draw Drop a few points and the line snaps to the real trail between them - not a straight line across the hillside, but the path people actually walk. Distance, elevation gain and estimated time are worked out as you go. 2. Paste a link Give Roanil a YouTube video or a Naver blog post and it turns what it finds into a route on the map, even when you never caught the trail's name. Note: videos without captions, and blogs other than Naver, cannot be read yet. Routes you make are saved under My Routes, and you can share them with other hikers if you want to. WORKS WITH NO SIGNAL Download your routes before you leave - roughly 4 to 12 MB each. Deep in the mountains with no reception, the saved map, your route and the peak names are all still there. No extra charge. ABOUT LOCATION Location is the only permission Roanil asks for, and it is optional. We do not collect or store your location. Your device works it out and it never leaves the device, used only to show where you are and which routes are near you. When you search for routes, the area you are viewing is sent to the server, but it is rounded to an area of roughly 11 km, so it cannot identify where you are, and it is not stored. You can decline the permission and still browse maps and routes. PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU GO The maps, routes, distances, elevation gain and time estimates in Roanil are for reference and may differ from the trail on the ground. Roanil is not a rescue or emergency device. Always check closures, weather and conditions with the managing authority before you set out, and carry a second means of navigation. WHAT YOU WILL NOT FIND No leaderboards, no rankings, nothing to compete over. Just the things you need before and during a hike, done properly.
