Ringtether places you on the night shift inside a hand-operated telephone exchange above a dark mountain city. Each incoming call pulses on the left side of the board. You grab its textured plug, follow a visible recessed gutter, and release it at the matching destination lamp on the right. The route preview closes one segment at a time, so an occupied line, shared relay, ordered amplifier, grounding jack, conference splitter, or storm-safe gutter changes a decision before you commit. A mistake is never reduced to a generic failure banner. A broken X marks the crossing, a crowded relay shows the conflict, and an expired priority call leaves a recoverable break with a practical next step. The first release contains exactly eight authored shifts: First Ring, Crossed Desk, Shared Trunk, Midnight Rush, Long Distance, Storm Ground, Conference Bridge, and Blackout Dispatch. They introduce direct matching, non-crossing routes, shared-trunk release, timed priority waves, ordered amplification, storm grounding, three-way branching, and persistent blackout stages. Difficulty grows through topology, order, contention, hazards, and stage rules. A renamed district, a different number, a shuffled call, a shorter timer, or a new wire color is not presented as a new level. The opening shift teaches through two playable actions. Connect the only ringing circular plug, watch the signal reach its lamp, and then route the triangle call without crossing the first live line. Source pulses, matching shapes, pale gutters, solid active lines, and broken danger marks retain their meaning even when tutorial copy is hidden. Successful connections travel along the actual judged route and award Relay Tags. Between groups, relay tools offer useful benefits with visible drawbacks rather than automatic solutions. Completing a shift earns a persistent Service Seal and unlocks four historical call cards in the City Ledger, for 32 cards across the eight-shift release. Clear Line mastery comes from actual crossings, disconnections, response timing, and route length. Lit districts, seals, and best results remain visible after restarting. Reduce Motion replaces strong travel and flashing with clear outlines, stable connected lines, status symbols, and short sound cues without changing the puzzle rules. Optional rewarded ads may redraw one relay choice, restore one original unfinished call, or double the current shift's Relay Tags within a daily limit. They never connect a line, light a district, grant a Service Seal, alter Clear Line mastery, choose a route, or erase a recorded mistake. Interstitials are limited to low-frequency returns to the lobby and share a ninety-second cooldown. The fixed two-dimensional view is deliberate: it keeps sources, destinations, topology, and crossing risk readable in one plane. Ringtether does not promise a free 3D camera, a real telephone-network simulation, online service, infinite levels, or offline concept art presented as gameplay. A five-person, three-second recognition and ten-second first-action study remains an external pre-release check; this package does not claim human results that were not collected.
