Full description
Type a name. See it in hieroglyphs. Renly is a quiet studio for the oldest alphabet. Type any name or word and watch it take shape as Egyptian hieroglyphs inside a real cartouche — the oval frame the pharaohs used to enclose a royal name. It is part playful name generator, part serious glyph dictionary, and it works entirely on your device with no account to create and nothing to sign in to. Renly turns letters into hieroglyphs the way an Egyptian scribe would have arranged them, then lets you dress the result: choose a cartouche style from three eras, recolour the ink, change the papyrus, tomb or Nile-night background, and layer gold leaf, lapis inlay or a weathered finish on top. When a piece feels right, save it to your Library to re-open and edit later, or export it as a clean square image to share or keep. Beyond the studio, Renly is a proper reference. The Atlas is a browsable dictionary of Egyptian signs, grouped by category — birds, mammals, body parts, plants, objects, determinatives, the alphabet and numerals — each with its sound value, transliteration, Unicode code point, era of use and meaning. Star the glyphs you love and they gather in your Library. Every day the app surfaces a Glyph of the Day with a short note, a rotating Pharaoh of the Week, and a line of ancient wisdom drawn from real Egyptian texts. The Kings gallery holds the genuine cartouches of famous rulers — Khufu, Khafre, Hatshepsut, Thutmose III, Akhenaten and more — each decoded sign by sign, with a biography and a link out to read further. KEY FEATURES ✓ Name-to-hieroglyph studio — type any name and see it inscribed in a live cartouche ✓ Three cartouche styles — Old Kingdom, New Kingdom and Ptolemaic proportions ✓ Palettes, backgrounds and decorations — make each piece your own ✓ Glyph Atlas — a searchable dictionary of Egyptian signs with sound, meaning and code point ✓ Kings gallery — real royal cartouches, decoded glyph by glyph ✓ Glyph of the Day, Pharaoh of the Week and a daily line of ancient wisdom ✓ Library — save cartouches, inscriptions and starred glyphs; edit or share any time ✓ Export a clean 1:1 image to share or save to your gallery ✓ Optional daily reminder so a new glyph greets you each morning HOW IT WORKS 1. Open the Studio and type a name or short phrase. 2. Watch it appear in hieroglyphs inside a cartouche as you type. 3. Set the style, palette, background and decorations you like. 4. Save it to your Library, or export it as an image to share. WHY RENLY Renly is calm, ad-free and built to be used offline. There is no sign-up, no paywall between you and the studio, and no clutter — just the papyrus, the ink and the glyphs. The type is set in Cinzel and the hieroglyphs render in the Noto Sans Egyptian Hieroglyphs font, so every sign is a real Unicode character, not a picture. PRIVACY Renly works fully offline. There is no account and no tracking, and the app does not collect or share your creations — everything you make stays on your device. The only network request is an optional lookup of a pharaoh's public Wikipedia summary on the Kings screen; it sends no personal data. Type a name. See it in hieroglyphs.
