Byways: OTG & SD Media Hub

Byways: OTG & SD Media Hub is an offline video, photo and music player for your SD card, USB drive, external hard drive or internal storage. No internet connection, no account, no cloud. Point the app at a folder with Android's built-in file picker and it builds a library from what's already there: TV shows and movies sorted by folder, photo albums, and music organized by artist or album. Playback resumes right where you left off, episode by episode. THREE TABS, ONE LIBRARY • Videos: folder-based library with resume playback and episode tracking • Photos: browse albums and play a fullscreen slideshow • Audio: local music player that keeps playing with the screen off, with lock-screen controls PLAY MEDIA FROM SD CARD AND USB OTG DRIVES Connect an SD card reader, USB OTG flash drive or external hard drive, pick a folder once, and play straight from it. Your library, cover art and thumbnails stay on your phone, so you can browse anytime and reconnect the drive to play. Load your drive before you leave and everything works on a flight, a cruise, or anywhere Wi-Fi is spotty or missing. Bring both your phone and the drive. OPTIONAL COVER ART AND SYNOPSES On Wi-Fi, the app can fetch posters, album art and synopses for what you import. Music album art comes automatically from Apple's iTunes Search API. TV and movie posters and synopses use TMDB, with Fanart.tv as a backup, and need a free API key that you enter once in Settings. • Only the folder or show name is sent as a search query, never your files or personal info • Wi-Fi only, never mobile data • Your key stays encrypted on your device • Skip the key and the app works the same, just without video posters OFFLINE WIKIPEDIA AND ZIM READER Open ZIM files, the Kiwix format for offline Wikipedia, Wiktionary, Project Gutenberg and reference libraries. Load a file once and browse it like a website with no connection. It lives in Settings, separate from your media library. A NOTE ON CLOUD FILES Android's file picker can also show cloud services such as Google Drive. Files imported that way need an internet connection to play. For a library that works fully offline, import from local storage. NO ADS. NO SUBSCRIPTIONS. NO ACCOUNTS. NO TRACKING. Your video, photo and audio files are never uploaded, and everything is stored in a private database on your device. Built by Rekluz Labs, a small studio that makes offline-first Android apps. Made for anyone with a drive full of personal media: home videos, an old phone's photo dump, a music collection ripped years ago. Plug in, pick a folder, press play.
