Full description
Python Shell is a Python IDE, compiler and interpreter for Android. It runs real Python 3 on your phone or tablet, offline. Write a program, press Run and see the output: on a plane, in a classroom with no Wi-Fi, or on the bus. numpy, pandas and matplotlib are built in, so data analysis and charts work from the first launch with nothing to download. 🐍 REAL PYTHON 3.13, NOT A SIMULATOR A complete CPython 3.13 interpreter runs on the device, with the full standard library and real tracebacks. numpy, pandas, matplotlib, Pillow, requests and regex come bundled and work with the radio off. It is ordinary Python, so what you write in this Python IDE runs on any computer too. A PYTHON EDITOR MADE FOR TOUCH • Syntax highlighting, line numbers, auto-indent, bracket pairing, undo and redo. • A row of Python keys above the keyboard: colon, brackets, quotes, underscore, indent and dedent. • Autocomplete as you type, including functions from the modules you import, like time.sleep. • Scripts saved to your library, and your draft kept even after the app is closed. BUILT FOR TABLETS AND FOLDABLES On a tablet the Python IDE puts the editor beside the console, with a divider you can drag and panels for examples, scripts and packages that open next to your work. Unfold a foldable and the layout follows; half-open, the split lines up with the hinge. Hardware keyboard shortcuts: Ctrl+Enter runs, Ctrl+S saves, Ctrl+Z undoes, Ctrl+/ comments. LEARN PYTHON BY RUNNING IT For beginners, students and anyone following a Python course or tutorial: Python practice, homework and exercises fit on a phone. Twelve worked examples open straight into the editor: a first program, an input() quiz, turtle drawings, numpy arrays, a pandas DataFrame, a matplotlib chart, reading and writing files, fetching data from the web, and two that go wrong on purpose, so you can practise reading a traceback and stopping a runaway loop. ERRORS EXPLAINED IN PLAIN ENGLISH The traceback points at your own lines, with library internals folded away. Underneath it, a sentence says what went wrong and what to try, for mistakes like a missing colon, a misspelled name or an index past the end of a list. When it is not sure, it says nothing rather than guess. input() WORKS THE WAY THE TUTORIAL SAYS Your program pauses, the console asks, you type the answer. Quizzes, calculators and games that read input run exactly as written. 🐢 TURTLE GRAPHICS, CHARTS AND VARIABLES import turtle draws right in the console. plt.show() puts your matplotlib figure next to your output. After each run, the variable inspector shows what your program left behind. AN INTERACTIVE PYTHON SHELL Switch to REPL mode: type an expression, get the answer, and keep your variables from line to line. Your history is kept, and a Quick Settings tile opens the shell from anywhere. INSTALL MORE PACKAGES Install packages from PyPI with their dependencies. Anything written in pure Python installs once and then works offline. If a package needs compiled code that Android cannot install, the app explains why in plain English. STOP ALWAYS WORKS One tap asks your program to stop. If it will not, a second tap restarts the interpreter and says so. A runaway loop can never freeze the app or put your scripts at risk. Long calculations keep running with the screen off. EXAM MODE FOR CLASSROOMS One switch cuts your programs off from the internet, turns off installs and sharing, and shows a banner a teacher can check from across the room. Python, numpy and pandas keep working. FILES, SHARING AND WIDGETS • Open .py files from your file manager, or share code into the app from any other app. • Each script gets its own folder, so the files your program writes are still there next time. • Share a program as a link, or export a run as text or an image for homework. • Back up every script to a single file. • A home-screen widget runs a saved script with one tap. Python programming anywhere, in a real Python IDE.

What's new
