Full description
Turn long documents into focused listening. Read-Aloud Study Reader brings document reading, spoken narration and practical study tools into one calm workspace. Import a file, review the extracted text, choose a narrator and return to the exact place where you stopped. LISTEN AND FOLLOW • Read PDF, EPUB, DOCX, ODT, RTF and TXT files, or paste your own text • Follow speech with a subtle live passage highlight and reading-position marker • Keep listening in the background with Android media controls • Skip backwards or forwards, move between chapters and use a custom focus timer • Resume from your saved position without a chapter selection starting playback START IMMEDIATELY OR CHOOSE A CLOUD VOICE Installed Android speech starts immediately and needs no audio preparation. Adjust its voice, speed, pitch, pacing and volume while you listen. For an optional higher-quality route, configure official Google Cloud Text-to-Speech or Microsoft Azure neural speech with your own provider credentials. Preview voices, prepare selected chapters as reusable audio and see which narrator produced each saved version. Cloud providers may charge for generated speech. Read-Aloud shows a confirmation before an action that can use a paid API. Only text requested for narration is sent to the provider you select; its availability, pricing and terms apply. A GUIDED IMPORT, NOT A GUESS The step-by-step import flow keeps your place while you choose extraction options, review a readable sample, confirm detected chapters and select a narrator. Reading filters can omit web addresses, repeated headers and footers, references and optional back matter from narration while leaving the original file unchanged. Image-only PDF pages can use on-device OCR, while PDF diagrams and page visuals remain available inside the reader. BUILT FOR SERIOUS READING • Organise documents and reading progress in one Library • Prepare, manage and export supported narration by chapter • Find text with contextual results and document-position markers • Add a persistent bookmark or jump back to it from the reader menu • Select and copy text, change a word's pronunciation or start reading from it • Add personal pronunciations or enable general, scientific and medical packs • Reconstruct an extracted PDF or export document audio • Create a simple on-device structural summary • Adjust text size, fonts, themes and contrast-conscious colours ACTIVE-RECALL QUESTION MODE Question Mode can read a detected question, pause before its hidden answer and reveal or repeat the answer when you are ready. It is designed for consistently labelled material—for example, “Question 1” before a prompt and “Answer 1” or “Answer:” before its answer. Detection runs locally using rules rather than advanced AI. It may recognise some other layouts, but results with unprepared, unusually formatted or inconsistently ordered material cannot be guaranteed. Review the detected boundaries before relying on the mode. PRIVATE BY DEFAULT Document extraction, reading history, bookmarks, structural summaries and saved audio stay on your device. No account is required, and the app contains no advertising or developer-operated tracking. If you choose a cloud narrator, the selected provider receives only the text and credentials needed for that request. Provider credentials are stored securely on your device. On-device OCR may send limited device, app, performance and error diagnostics to Google Play services, but not your OCR images or recognised text. Extraction, OCR, pronunciation substitutions and synthetic speech can make mistakes. Check important details against the original source. Listen at your pace, protect your focus and make demanding reading easier to return to.
